Hurumanu - Balloon Chemistry

Aim: To see which chemical
mix creates the most gas.

Hypothesis: I think that the reaction of both experiment is going to be a little bit the same, but I think that the baking soda and vinegar itself will have the most reaction.

Materials:
  1. Baking Soda
  2.  Salt
  3.  Balloons
  4.  Vinegar
  5.  Plastic Bottle x2
  6.
Steps
  1.   Put the dry ingredients in the balloon.
  2.  Put the wet ingredients in the Plastic Bottle.

Raindow Paper

Aim: To separate all the colours from a colour and to also make a Rainbow looking image in the paper.

Materials:

  • Filter Paper
  • Water Base Felt Pens or any other type of Felt Pens
  • Plastic Cups
  • And Water
Steps:

  • Cut the Filter paper into a decent size, like a rectangle type shape. Then measure 1 cm and then draw a line across it. Make sure the long side of the paper is facing down.
  • Draw two dots on the line with the Felt Pens.
  • Hang the paper is the Plastic cup but make sure that it's not touching the bottom of the cup.
  • Then put a little bit of water in the Plastic cup. What I mean by a little bit is really just a little bit. Just the right amount to touch the paper.
  • Then wait for the colour to separate from each other.
Conclusion:

Things went well in my group. It looked really really good and the colours looked really cool from the way they all separated.

Households Chemicals

Aim: To learn the names of 10 household chemicals and identify if they are a solid, liquid or a gas.

1. Soap
2. Lemon juice
3. Salt
4. Vinegar
5. Sugar
6. Milk
7. Onion
8. Lemonade
9. Bleach
10. Baking Soda

Steps:

  1. Add the name of the ingredient into the chart
  2. Search for an image of the ingredient
  3. download and paste in into the chart
  4. Search for the chemical used in the ingredient
  5. Find out if the ingredient is a Solid, Liquid or Gas

Task 1: Put the 10 chemicals in a chart with the titles - Name, Chemical ingredient(s), Image, Solid/Liquid/Gas.
