Aim: To take the DNA from the kiwi fruit.
Equipment:
- Kiwi Fruit
- Beaker
- Ziplock bag
- Salt
- Liquid Detergent
- Rubbing Alcohol
- Water
- Filter
- Popsicle stick
Method:
- Cut the kiwi fruit in half and peel
- Put the rest of the kiwi fruit in the ziplock bag and mush it carefully
- After mushing properly, put one to two pinches of salt and half a cup of water
- Mix together carefully
- Once mixed together, put the filter on top of the beaker and start pouring the mixture in carefully
- When finished, lightly pull the sides of the filter and squeeze softly. Don't squeeze too hard since it might make the filter rip
- Pour the mixture into a test tube then put rubbing alcohol on top
- There you will start to see the DNA. You can use the popsicle stick to scoop up the DNA and look at it closely.
