Creative Manufacturing - My Mandatory sign

Today for Creative Manufacturing, some of us were finishing the sign that we were making last week. About the sign, we had to choose on either making a Hazard sign, a Mandatory sign, and a Prohibited sign. The sign that I chose was a Mandatory sign and the picture that it had in the middle was a man that has a  face shield on. I chose that sign because we didn't have it in our workshop. The other reason was to make people aware and to actually wear a face shield whenever their welding or doing something that might hurt your eyes or your face.

Here is the online version of my drawing:

Solubility Dissolving Experiment

Aim: See if salt or baking soda dissolves more

Hypothesis: I think that the Baking soda will dissolve more than Salt because it's powder and it is thinner when it is dissolving in liquid and salt is a bit more thicker.

Equipment: A 250 ml beaker, 100 ml measuring cylinder, salt, baking soda, a stirring rod, a teaspoon and a ruler.

Method:
1. Fill the beaker with 100 ml of tap water
2. Add a level teaspoon of baking soda. A level teaspoon is obtained by running your ruler across the edges of the teaspoon).
3. Stir the solution until all the baking soda is dissolved.
4. Repeat step 2 and 3 until no more baking soda will dissolve into a solution.
5. Record how many teaspoon of baking soda were added.
6. Repeat the experiment with the table of salt.

Result:

Solute
Number of teaspoon that dissolved in 100 ml of water
Baking Soda
2 teaspoon
Table Salt
5 teaspoon
Discussion:
This experiment involved dissolving a solute. The first substance that we used was table salt, the result that it got up to was 5 teaspoons while the Baking soda only got up to 2 teaspoon. I'm pretty happy with the results that we got.

Conclusion:
The Hypothesis that I made was wrong. The salt ended up dissolving much better and quicker than the Baking soda. I thought that Baking soda was going to dissolve better because it's particle size is much more smaller than the table salt.

What is a hazard? - Creative Manufacturing

Image result for Mandatory sign face shield What is a Mandatory sign?
A Mandatory sign is a sign that will command you to do something for your own health and also for your own safety. It has a blue back round with a picture of something and also with a sentence that is going to tell you what to do or wear. For example, when you are in a workshop, there are some certain things that you have to do to ensure you safety, like wearing a face shield when you are welding to keep your face especially your eyes safe.

What is a Prohibited sign?

A Prohibited sign or a Prohibition sign is a safety sign that doesn't allow any behaviour that will likely cause a risk to your health and to your safety. Prohibition safety sign generally hes a black safety symbol in a red circle with a red diagonal cross through it.   For example, when you are in a workshop, you shouldn't run around because if you are careful, you can trip over something that can hurt you really badly. Food Technology - Savoury Bread Cases

Last Friday in Home Economics, we made some Savoury Bread Cases.

Ingredients:
Butter
White Bread
Brown Bread
Canned Spaghetti
Canned Beans
Grated Cheese

Equipment needed:
Cupcake pan
Bread knife
Small cutting knife
Cutting board

The first thing that we did was to get the bread, we all got two each, one white bread and one brown bread. What we had to do was to cut the sides off, put some butter on one side of it using the bread knife, put the side that had butter on the cupcake pan carefully without pressing the centre of the bread too much. The next thing that we had to do was to put it in the oven for 5 minutes to let it set and for it to be able to hold it's shape. If you are wondering, the oven was set on fan bake and the temperature was 180 Celsius.

While we wait for 5 minutes, we prepared the ingredients that we are going to put on the middle of the bread. We placed each toppings on different small bowls. The different toppings that we had were some canned spaghetti, canned beans, and some grated cheese.

After 5 minutes, we took the bread out from the oven and started placing all the different ingredients on the middle of the bread. After that, we placed it right back to the oven to cook for just about 10 to 15 minutes. One of my teammates started washing while all of us started doing all the other cleaning things that was also needed to be done.

Finally, the bread was finally finished! We got to eat it outside that classroom because we still got a bit more time and finished earlier than we thought we would, especially because it was the first cooking session for Home Technology. The outside of the bread was really crunchy while the middle was so chewy and also had a lot of flavours.

Food Technology

Today in Food Technology, we had a tour in our kitchen that were going to be working on for two terms. What we had to do was to list all the equipment that was in the drawers and shelves.

First drawer:
The equipment that are in the first drawer are Spatula, Wooden spoons, Vegetable peelers and some Scissors.

Second drawer:
The equipment that are in the second drawer are Measuring spoons and cups and some Tongs.

Third drawer:
The equipment that are in the third drawer are Wooden rolling pins, Whisk, Potato masher and some Cookie cutters.

Fourth drawer:
The equipment that are in the fourth drawer are just some Glass bowls.

Fifth drawer:
The things that are in the fifth drawer are the cleaning and washing related things and a container where you put the excess food away or a part of the food that has to be disposed.

Sixth drawer:
The equipment that are in the sixth drawer are just some stainless Pots ans Pans.

The last drawer underneath the Oven just has some Cupcake Pans.

I can't really remember all of the things that was in the shelves but that I remember seeing was some small and big Plates and a lot more things.

PE Athletics

Today in PE, we are going to be learning how to throw a Discus and High Jump.

The first thing that we practised was the Discus. We got a Discus that weighted at least 1 kg and headed out in the field. We spread ourselves out in a line then started throwing the Discus in our teachers lead. Every time we throw the Discus, he tells us how we should hold it properly. I had lots of fun and also found out that I could throw it pretty far.

Then, the High Jump. We did a type of jump called Fosbury jump. It's when we land in our backs with our chin down and our legs and arms facing upwards. At first, I thought that I won't be able to do it but I was actually pretty good at it. I really enjoyed doing it.

I really enjoyed my PE session today!
