Language Of Film Techniques - Hurumanu 2

Hi guys, for Film Studies, we have been focusing on looking at different types of Shots, Angles and Movements. We had two choices on we can show the different Camera Shots. We could either take our own photos or we could just search up the photo in Google. To show my learning, I decided to use Canva which is very useful and for the photos that are needed, I just searched them up in Google. As I mentioned earlier, these different techniques are divided into 3 different categories, Camera Shots, Angles, and Movements.

Here is the presentation that I made that includes what type of technique it is, a photo showing what it looks like, and what that technique means.:

What am I learning?

I'm learning about different types of Camera Shots, Angles and Movements and how you use them. We are also learning about how you use them and what type of feeling it gives you when you use them.

How does this work show my learning?

This presentation that I made shows my learning and understanding on this topic. I have put the meanings on each slides and I think that they are pretty easy to understand. Some of the meanings also includes why you should those kind of shots and the best times to use them.

What am I wondering as a result of this learning?

I have a few wondering regarding this topic. How many kind of shots are used in a single film? How many times do you use it?

Language of Film - Visual and Sound Techniques

1. Body Language -  The characters uses this to show their feelings and emotions for other characters that are in the film using their body. It's like understanding what they feel without them telling you anything or by understanding them by how they act.

2. Costumes - This is used to match or express the character's feelings, personality or who they really are.

3. Hairstyles -  Same as the Costumes, this is also used to match or express the character's feelings, personality or who they really are. They might not act like who they really are in person but they might find their clothes or hair a way to be able express the real them.

4. Make-up - Used to transform or change how they look to be able to match their character or to make them look a bit different.

5. Colour - This mainly used to set a mood of a scene or what the character is feeling. As for example, blue, basically sending a message that the scene or the character is sad.

6. Lighting - This is also used to set the mood of a scene or the character. It is also used to make something important stand out or maybe to point out something.

7. Props - The equipment that are used by the character or that are used for the scene. The equipment that you need or are seen in the background. To make the scene look much cleaner and better.

8. Settings - This is the place that your character needs to go to, to be able send the feeling or message that scene is trying to deliver. The specific place the film scene is happening on.

9. Dialogue - Used to either introduce the plot twist or something new about the character.

10. Sound Effects - Something that is used to create a certain mood for the audience or different sounds used to make the scene much more interesting.

11. Music - Same as the Sound Effects, something that could also be used to change the scene's mood, different types of songs used to make the scene much more interesting and exciting.

12. Silence - This is often used to make the audience feel a certain way. Mostly used to attract the audience to pay more attention on what's happening in the scene.

13. Symbols - This is often a type of object suggesting new ideas to make the scene more interesting.

14. Special FX - This effect is mostly used for important scenes. Adding more details to the scene to make it look more realistic.

What am I learning?

We are currently learning about different Visual and Sound Techniques that are used in Movies and Films etc. These ones that are listed down are the ones that are the most common and used.

How does this work show my learning?

This work shows my learning and understanding about this topic. I wrote down the different meanings of these techniques and researched about it to make sure that those meanings are the actual meaning of those words.

What am I wondering as a result of this learning?

My only wonder for this topic is that which one of these are the most used one and why?

Why are there no more Plastic bags? - Textile

Hi guys, this blog post contains the research that I made for Textile.

Why are there no more use of Plastic bags in New Zealand?

The Ministry of the Environment banned the use of Plastic bags in New Zealand from the 1st of July 2020. The purpose of the ban is to help reduce the amount of plastic in the Environment, keeping the Environment clean and healthy.

We want to reduce the use of Plastic bags because they pollute our land and water. The other reason why we want to get rid of them is because they could take decades to decompose.

What are some Alternatives that we could use instead of Plastic Bags?

There might be more that you could find but here are the best options. Paper bags that could be recycled. Reusable Plastic bags, the ones that don't take too long to break down. Cotton bags, Compostable bags, and Jute bags.

How can Plastic bags affect Climate Change?

Sunlight heats would cause the Plastic bags to release powerful greenhouse gases. As our Climate Changes, the planet would get hotter and hotter, that means that Plastic would break down into more Methane and Ethylene. This would increase the damage to our Environment such as Air Pollution, Wildfires and a lot more.
