Creative Writing Tasks - English

Hi guys, I've decided to use this blog post for the finished work that I have to publish from English. The works that I'm going to be putting up on this post are related to one of the topics that we have been recently working on in English. It's called Creative Writing. There are 6 different activities that we can choose from and have to complete. I'll be putting them up on here with a little introduction on what it is.

Here are the ones that I have completed:

Language Feature:

This is the first one that I finished. What I had to do here is choose three different words and find their definition, an example, and the effect of you using it. Here is the simple slideshow that I made:

Metaphors and Similes:

This one is the second one that I've made so far. For this activity, I had to define what Metaphor and Simile means in our own words. I also added an example in it to make it a bit more easier to understand. Here is the poster that I made using Canva:

Sensory Language:

This is the third activity that I made it's called Sensory Language. We had to write a one paragraph story that contains the five senses. We weren't allowed to use the words: See, Hear, Touch, Smell, and Taste. Here is the writing that I wrote, hope you guys like it.

The voices of her “friends” kept getting louder and louder to every step they took. She was staring at them from a distance, wondering what they were laughing at. Once they had come close enough to her, she tried to get their attention. They ignored her as if she wasn’t there. She kept on trying to talk to them, catching up to them, she was desperately trying to. They then turned around to her, the tone of their voice changed, the joyous look on their faces dropped. She started to feel anxious, wondering what she did wrong for them to look at her like that. One of the friends came up to her, pushed her, and told her not to bother them because she was an embarrassment to the group. They left her on the ground with her eyes starting to tear up. She forced herself to stand up and smile. She stood at a corner forcing a smile, not knowing what she would do next. Not long after she stood there, a young man around her age was walking in her direction. The scent of his perfume wrapped around her nose. He stopped right in front of her, took her hands and went somewhere. She didn’t even care because at that moment, she was so hurt. They stopped in front of an ice cream shop, he told her to wait for him. She then nodded, agreeing with him. He went in and bought ice cream for her. The sweetness of the ice cream lifted her mood, it made her happy. She asked the boy if he wanted to stay with her a little longer, to be able to thank him properly. The boy agreeds. They then became really good friends, starts to hangout with each other much more often.

Slam Poetry:

The fourth activity that I did for English is Slam Poetry. There was a whole range of different videos and we had to choose the one that we liked the most. Out of all the videos, I chose 'The Poetry Slam of Matariki 2014: Te Kahu Rollestone Performs.' The reason why I chose this out of all the other videos was because I found very inspirational. The way that the speaker delivered his poetry shows how proud he is of his culture. In the video, he was explaining the things that are happening in our society these days. How everything was different from what it was like before.

This was the site where I watched the video from: LINK

This was the video that I chose:

Haiku Poems:
The last activity that I had to do for English is called 'Haiku Poem'. Haiku poems contains 3 lines, 5 syllables on the first line, seven on the middle, and another 5 for the last line. The theme of the Haiku Poems that we had to do was about the four different seasons.

Here are the Haiku Poems that I made:
