Hypothesis: Chemical Change
Equipment:
- Sample of Zn O (Zinc Oxide)
- Heat Source - Hot plate
- Scales
- Heat proof container - Evaporating dish
- Tongs
- Heat proof mat
- Get sample of ZnO in an evaporating dish
- Weigh the ZnO and container - record weigh
- Heat container and ZnO on hot plate
- Observe any changes - use phone for before and after photos
- Take off heat and put on heat mat
- Let cool - observe - photos
- Re weigh
Result:
The only change that happened with the Zinc was that it changed colours. The weigh stayed the same throughout the whole experiment. Nothing else happened.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, the hypothesis that I had was wrong. As you can see at the top of this blog post, I said that it was going to be Chemical change. After doing the experiment it turns out that it was a Physical change. The only thing that changed was the colour which is a part of the Physical change.
Here is what it looked like during the experiment:
